Summer Camps

Kids Connection Camp: Linking Thoughts, Words, Feelings and Actions

Your child will develop social emotional skills to use all year!

Camp Overview:

EBS Children’s Institute of Los Angeles invites children of all abilities to join us for unique, play-based camps that build on your child's foundational skills in social emotional development, peer interactions, and communication. Our program utilizes evidence-based resources that give children tools to express and respond to challenging situations constructively while building social emotional, attention and self-regulation skills.

Camp Size:

Groups are limited to no more than 8 children and will not be held with less than 4 children. We offer a 2:1 student to adult ratio to ensure your child received individualized attention while participating in a fun group experience.

Dates/Times:

Both camps will be held for an hour and a half, and divided into sessions of 4 days/week (Monday-Thursday) for two weeks at a time.

Location:

EBS Children’s Institute of Los Angeles: 8939 S. Sepulveda Blvd. | Suite 320 | Los Angeles, CA 90045

Cost:

Camp costs $560 for each 8-day session ($70 per session). Because the group experience is an important part of camp, we cannot offer a daily, drop-in rate.

Sample Schedule:

Greetings and Sensory Motor Group

  • Sign-in for attendance
  • Children to practice initiating communication and play with other children, taking turns with fine motor manipulatives and craft materials, sharing, and giving students opportunities for conflict resolution.
  • Practice fine motor/self-care skills, such as removing shoes and managing materials to take out/put items away, warming-up little hands for writing.
  • Sensorimotor Activities: obstacle courses, yoga, movement games
  • Sensory motor skills provide a child’s foundation for learning, since all forms of learning are a result of the analysis of sensory information.
  • Movement activities are designed to promote the integration of the brain’s hemispheres, which helps with learning. Sensory skills that are emphasized include vision, hearing, touch, smell, taste, vestibular (for balance and head position in space), and proprioception (information from the muscles and joints).
  • Motor skill development helps children to better receive and process information from their senses in order to produce a motor output.
Arts & Crafts

  • Students participate in activities such as, building with manipulatives, creating craft projects, including using scissors and craft media, all of which help develop fine motor coordination and strength, visual perceptual skills and sensory processing.
  • Quick movement breaks and guided transitions are given between activities to promote focus and attentiveness.
  • Development of fine motor and motor planning skills, especially as related to initiating, sequencing, and completing tasks.
  • Social communication development focused on cooperating to work with other peers.
Wrap-Up and Goodbyes

  • We will provide students with a fun cue that camp is closing for the day. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to the end of camp to ensure a smooth transition for your child. At the end of each week, the EBS Children’s Institute of LA staff will provide input/feedback tailored to each student that will allow students to continue to build on what they have learned in camp.
